Staying Fit in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea

Debbie H - Friday, April 13, 2018

Being small is BIG to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea when it comes to staying fit. The Town’s pedestrian friendly streets and beachfront location provide numerous ways to stay healthy – no car needed in Florida’s Best Beach Town.

Walk or Run
Walking is the easiest way to get around Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Take a stroll through each of our colorful plazas, complete with marine sculptures, or a jog down the beach to hit your steps goal! You can also walk around our farmers market at El Prado Park. Don’t forget to check out the walking map at http://bit.ly/GettingAroundLBTS.

Bike
Riding a bicycle around town is another simple and fun way to travel in our quaint beachside town. Looking for the best routes to ride on? Visit http://bit.ly/BikeTripPlan to plan your trip and take a look at the Town’s bike rack map.

Practice Yoga
Get your Zen on and greet the day with yoga at El Prado Park (4500 El Mar Drive, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea) every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 a.m. With wide, grassy space surrounded by palm trees, El Prado Park is the perfect place to start your day. All levels are welcome!

Beach Scuba Dive
Did you know that Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is Florida’s Beach Diving Capital? Beach scuba diving is a full-body workout, and you strengthen your muscles as you swim. The slow and deep breathing technique taught in diving can also help lower blood pressure, and carrying your equipment requires a good deal of strength as well. Download the Town’s diving map at http://bit.ly/LBTSDiving.

Dancing
Dancing is just plain fun – and a good way to stay fit, too. Every second and fourth Sunday of the month from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. from January through May, come out to Anglin’s Square Beach Pavilion, where you can take free dance lessons in swing, salsa and ballroom from Danny Carter. Carter owns Dance Moves and is recognized as one of the country’s top teachers and performers.
