We all make New Year’s resolutions in January and it’s also the perfect time to mark up the calendar with events not to miss. So…in an effort to make sure you plan accordingly for 2015, here’s a look at what’s happening in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea through June:
Garden Club Annual Rummage Sale – Jan. 31
Jarvis Hall is the spot for some great deals on books, linens, housewares, plants, baked goods and more. It’s also a great opportunity to clean out the closet and make some donations.
Taste of the Beach – Feb. 25
The LBTS Chamber fundraiser is an annual affair this year being held at Freidt Family Park. Under the tent will be samplings of seafood and local culinary fare from area restaurants as well as beer and wine for sale.
Arts & Crafts Show – TBD
Anglin’s Square is overrun with arts and crafts vendors, both local and national, selling their wares.
Sea Turtle Fest – March 21-22
Turtles are adorable creatures and they’re even cuter to watch when they’re nesting. The SeaTurtleFest celebrates the beginning of the nesting season with weekend festivities featuring live entertainment, nautical and sea-themed arts and crafts and environmental groups providing educational info on the importance of protecting sea turtles.
BugFest by the Sea – July 26 - Aug. 1
The mini-season Dive Festival also includes the Great Florida Bug Hunt with contests, workshops and cookouts throughout the week.
Friday Night Music – every Friday night through May
The event features a different popular local band playing weekly at Anglin’s Square.
Shall We Dance – second and fourth Sunday of the month through May
Free dance lessons with Danny Carter of Danny Carter Dance Moves at Anglin’s Square.
Farmer’s Market – every Sunday through May
Have your pick of fresh produce, natural foods, plants and specialty items at the outdoor market held in El Prado Park.
Evening at Jarvis Hall Series – one Wednesday a month
Scheduled for 2015: Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. a seminar on buying and using the latest electronic devices; Feb. 11 from 6-8:30 p.m. the Third Annual Community Center Art Exhibit; March 25 7-8:30 p.m. an evening of theater and poetry.
That should book up your calendar for a while!
