The Copenhagen dive and snorkel trip is scheduled for Friday, July 29 with South Florida Diving Headquarters in Pompano Beach. We received a VISITFlorida tourism education grant to fund this event. The Copenhagen, a Florida Heritage site, is a Florida Underwater Archaeological Preserve that is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The wreck is in 25 to 30 feet of water. Because the state preserve is less than a mile offshore and fairly close to the Hillsboro Inlet, it receives an estimated 10,000 visitors per year. Divers who stay in a Lauderdale-By-The-Sea hotel during BugFest are eligible for this free dive trip. Just ask your hotel to let you check out late Friday. To register for the trip, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Participants will need to meet at South Florida Diving Headquarters in Pompano Beach at 8:30AM. We will dive Copenhagen and then a nearby shallow reef.
